Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: A hint or two for those who take lots of medication:
As one grows older, things do change. You go from one to two, three, four or more pills a day and sometimes dosages or medications are changed.
In military hospitals the patient is asked to write on the consultation sheet each medication he or she is taking. I have a list of medications (dosage, etc.) prescribed for me written in my purse calendar under “vital information.” I also typed the same information on all-purpose labels which I carry in my purse and can readily affix to the consultation sheet in seconds.
It saves a lot of time, energy and frustration and, most of all, it could save my life. Caution: Do not forget to make new labels and discard the old ones when your doctor prescribes new or changes old medication. - U.J. Snyder, Corpus Christi, Texas
Dear Heloise: Finding a place to dry knit suits and sweaters can be frustrating, so I’ve come up with this: Use your ironing board! Cover it with dry-cleaner plastic bags, then put some towels over the plastic. Set it in your bathtub and place the knits on the towels. A great solution for those heavy, flat-dry knits. - Ann Orzechowski, Springdale, Pa.
