Boy Jumps From Third Story, Lives

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 5-year-old boy jumping on a bed bounced out a third-story apartment window and landed in some landscaping, where he was shaken up but not seriously hurt.

“I think it just scared him more than anything,” said Andy Bittinger, assistant manager of the Valley Pines Apartments.

The boy complained of some back and head pain and was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center to be checked out, but suffered only minor injuries and was sent home, said Battalion Chief Dale Mawhirter of the Medford Fire Department.

The boy was with a baby sitter Sunday afternoon. Bittinger said the boy bounced right through the screen of an open window.

Mawhirter said he fell about 25 feet and landed in a sitting position in some soft bark dust in a landscaping bed.
