Barnett Gives Ucla A Hard Look

If UCLA doesn’t woo Gary Barnett away from Northwestern, the Wildcats might not have to wait another half-century to return to the Rose Bowl.

Then again, imagine Southern California coach John Robinson’s reaction if the Bruins do manage to hire Barnett. With UCLA’s recruiting power and Barnett’s motivational and coaching skills, USC could wait awhile before its next Rose Bowl.

Whether Barnett is using the UCLA vacancy to get a better deal at Northwestern is unclear, but he gave every appearance of being serious about the Bruins.

Reports say Barnett met with officials Saturday and spoke with A.D. Pete Dalis again Tuesday.
