At Lumberton, N.C., defense lawyers for a man charged with killing Michael Jordan’s father repeatedly questioned whether the body found in 1993 could be someone else’s.

“Identity is certainly an issue in this case,” said defense lawyer Angus Thompson, who represents Daniel Andre Green, as he cross-examined an investigator.

Olympic men’s figure skater Scott Davis said he will compete in the U.S. national championships, Jan. 16-20 in San Jose, Calif., despite having been diagnosed with benign positional vertigo. Davis has been battling an abnormal sense of motion that often results in dizziness since last summer.

Saying the Boston Celtics’ situation is worse than anything he’s been through, including the death of former teammate Reggie Lewis, captain Dee Brown has asked for a trade.

At Doha, Qatar, Boris Becker was ousted from the Qatar Open after a 3-hour battle with Venezuela’s Nicolas Pereira. Pereira, ranked 122 in the world, defeated Becker, the tournament’s second seed, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-5).
