Quick Start Leads Bears To Victory

GSL girls

Hot shooting sent Central Valley off to a quick start and the Bears coasted to a 70-51 victory over Gonzaga Prep in a Greater Spokane League girls basketball game at the Arena Friday night.

The Bears (5-1, 8-1) hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter, racing to a 19-7 lead and pushed the advantage to 39-18 at the half as eight different players scored.

Gonzaga Prep (3-2, 7-2) scored the first eight points of the second half before the Bears regained control and pushed the lead back to 20.

Jennifer Williams kept the game respectable, pumping in 27 points for the Bullpups, but CV’s defense forced too many turnovers and, combined with Prep’s 6-of-18 foul shooting, the game was never in doubt.

Six players scored between eight and 14 points for the Bears, who hit 26 of 51 shots, including 5 of 9 3’s. Crystal Lee led CV with 14.
