Sacramento State at GU

Gonzaga (8-3) takes on the Hornets (4-9) at 1 p.m. in the Martin Centre.

At a glance Gonzaga proved one thing against Eastern Washington on Friday - that the Bulldogs can win a game while shooting below 50 percent. That 63-53 decision was GU’s lone victory this season when making less than half of its shots (41.3). Sac State and coach Don Newman - a former standout at the University of Idaho and assistant at Washington State - shocked the Bulldogs at Sacramento last year, pushing them to overtime before GU pulled out a 77-72 win. That was the final non-league game for the Bulldogs, who went on to lose their first six conference matches. Coach Dan Fitzgerald will be looking for a better springboard to this season. “We’ve got to be very careful because they’re playing really well,” Fitzgerald said. “Donnie is really doing a great job; they had a helluva win over Idaho State.” Gonzaga: Paul Rogers and Jon Kinloch, 14.6 ppg; Scott Snider, 8.3 rpg; Kyle Dixon, 5.6 apg. Sacramento State: Abie Ramirez, 13.9 ppg; Ramirez, 9.9 rpg; Markel Sadler, 3.7 apg.

Radio: KJRB (790 AM) with Dick Wright 15 minutes before tip-off.
