Four Red Wings Are All-Stars
The Detroit Red Wings placed four players on the NHL’s Western Conference All-Star team, the most of any club for the Jan. 20 game at Boston.
Defenseman Paul Coffey was voted to the starting team Thursday and goaltender Chris Osgood, center Sergei Fedorov and defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom were among the players added to round out the roster.
Three Chicago Blackhawks - starters Chris Chelios, goalie Ed Belfour and defenseman Gary Suter - are on the team.
Ken Hitchcock, head coach of the Michigan K-Wings of the International Hockey League, took over as head coach of the slumping NHL Dallas Stars, replacing Bob Gainey, who stepped down Monday. The K-Wings are the Stars’ IHL affiliate.
