Chiefs Place Four On West All-Star Roster

Four Spokane Chiefs will play for the West Division at the Jan. 23 Western Hockey League All-Star game in Prince George, British Columbia.

Chiefs defenseman Sean Gillam will join left wing Dmitri Leonov, right wing Jason Podollan and goaltender David Lemanowicz at the league’s first All-Star show since the 1990-91 season.

The Kamloops Blazers led West teams with six selections for the game that will match the West against the combined stars from the WHL Central and East divisions.

The West squad

Goaltenders: Lemanowicz, Spokane; Randy Petruk, Kamloops.

Forwards: Leonov and Podollan, Spokane; Jarome Iginla, Hnat Domenichelli, Kamloops; Richard Zednik, Portland; Brent Ascroft, Daymond Langkow, Terry Ryan, Jaroslav Svejkovsky, Tri-Cities; Blair Manning, Seattle; Marty Flichel, Rob Gordon, Kelowna.

Defensemen: Gillam, Spokane; Sheldon Souray, Burt Henderson, Kelowna; Aaron Keller, Jason Holland and Nolan Baumgartner, Kamloops.

Coach: Ed Dempsey, Kamloops.

The Central/East squad

Goaltenders: Terry Friesen, Swift Curent; Chad Mercier, Regina.
