Fashion Design Is A Drag, And Howard Is The Queen
Since we consider fashion designer Mr. Blackwell to be little more than a self-promoting fraud, we try to ignore his annual “worst-dressed” list. But when he puts Howard Stern at the top of it, we make exceptions.
Mr. Blackwell noted that Stern dressed in drag for the cover of his book “Miss America.” His description: “Looks like Godzilla impersonating Gypsy Rose Lee.”
The other fashion losers:
Courtney Love (“a frenetic baby doll”), Drew Barrymore, Whoopi Goldberg (“most comedians do comedy routines - Whoopi wears them”), Diane Keaton (“positively spooky”), Camilla Parker Bowles (last year’s No. 1), movie star Jennifer Jason Leigh, rocker Melissa Etheridge (“hopeless and helpless”), and the daughter on TV’s “Married…th with Children,” Christina Applegate.

It was a snub to me and my constituency.”

When blues guitarist Bonnie Raitt was down on her career a few years ago, drinking too much, carrying too much weight and not working to her potential, she got revived by TAOKAP (or, The Artist Once Known As Prince). “It’s one thing to go onstage if you’re a little chunky,” Raitt said. “It’s another to make a video with a guy who’s foxy.”
Paranoia strikes deep, into your heart it will creep
A lonely-looking Princess Diana appeared on a London street recently in full grief mode. “She was leaning against her car and weeping uncontrollably,” a photographer for the Daily Mirror said. “We could all hear her sobbing.” Di had just seen her therapist, Susie Orbach.
And when she goes, he’s all set to take her place
Milestones: Wayne Newton, 53, will mark his 25,000th Las Vegas performance Tuesday when he opens a six-night stand at the Desert Inn; Carol Channing, 74, will do her 4,500th “Hello, Dolly!” at Wednesday’s matinee in Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Starring in “Showgirls” nearly ended Elizabeth Berkley’s career. She got bad reviews, was fired by her agent and was out of work. Then Goldie Hawn signed her for a part in her upcoming film, “First Wives Club.” “We have to afford people some mistakes,” Hawn said.
