Nic Offering Course On Law To Public
Seventeen local attorneys and one judge are the instructors for a nine-week People’s Law School being offered at North Idaho College.
The non-credit course will meet Thursday evenings beginning Jan. 25. The cost is $18 and there are no prerequisites.
The weekly sessions will cover criminal law, family law, domestic violence, business law, consumer law, landlord/tenant issues, government benefit programs, real estate law, land use and more. The final session will focus on resolving conflicts through mediation or arbitration.
The teachers are donating their time.
“Our hope is that this will enable those who take the course to avoid many legal disputes and to effectively and efficiently resolve disputes when they do arrive,” said Alan Wasserman, a board member of the Conflict Resolution Center, which co-sponsored the course with the First District Bar Association, The Coeur d’Alene Press and The Spokesman-Review.
Call 769-3333 to enroll. More information is available through NIC’s Community Education Office at 769-3444.
The NIC-Public Forum television show also plans to feature the People’s Law School in a six-week broadcast on public television.
