He Had Hope And Dreams For Us All
It began Jan. 15, 1929.
I think celebrating the birth of my great African American civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is wonderful. His dreams are still my dreams. He dreamed and preached for all men, women and children of all colors to be created equal, for all people to be joined together in brotherhood and sisterhood. Even though the white man beat him and sprayed water on him, he still wanted to hold the white man’s hand and call him his brother.
Celebrating his birthday and making it public shows people that there is still hope. Hope that there someday will be no more prejudice and all men, women and children, like he said, will be equal. When my children go to school, I want them to be treated fairly. I want them to love people of all colors and genders.
Martin Luther King was right. “We shall overcome.”
Someday.
