Priest Lake Dilemma Reaches Legislature
A sewer district at Priest Lake is having problems finding enough people for its board because so many of the district’s property owners live in Spokane.
So Rep. Jim Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint, is proposing legislation that would allow non-Idaho residents to vote and serve on the board. The measure is limited to “recreational sewer districts,” which include mostly summer cabins.
But Stoicheff isn’t sure his bill, which was approved for introduction by a legislative committee Thursday, will fly. “It may even be unconstitutional,” he said.
