Pacific Nails Freebies In Win Over Pirates

You know it’s a road game when your opponent shoots 22 more free throws than you do.

Whitworth (3-11, 1-3 Northwest Conference) shot 4 for 6 from the line while Pacific (6-7, 3-1) was 18 for 28 in the Boxers’ 69-55 win Friday.

The Pirates were whistled for 21 fouls compared to 10 for Pacific.

Whitworth’s Jennifer Tissue and Rebecca Moore each scored 14 points.

Idaho, playing without star center Mindy Rice, was beaten soundly by Southern Utah in a non-conference game at Memorial Gym in Moscow.

Rice sat out after having a cortisone shot in her left foot due to a strained arch.

Without Rice, Southern Utah center Myndee Larsen finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Sophomore Melissa McDaniel led Idaho with 11 points. The Vandals fell to 5-10 and Southern Utah improved to 7-11.
