Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: To dispose of fruit and vegetable scraps and avoid a smelly kitchen, I use a 42-ounce rolled-oats container, which I line with a bread wrapper and secure on the outside with a rubber band. The lid then fits tightly. When full, the filled bag can be removed, sealed with a twist tie and discarded or composted.

Remember the recycler’s Four Rs: Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, Reject. - Royu Hildebrandt, Mesa, Ariz.

Dear Heloise: Zipper-type plastic bags are great to travel with. They hold medicines, note and pen items, extra sets of underwear, receipts from the trip and camera and film.

They make compact suitcases (carryall) and are visible for quick locating. - J. Franzen, Cleveland, Ohio
