Surgeons To Attempt Separating Twins
Doctors at Children’s Hospital in San Diego said they will attempt to surgically separate Siamese twins on Saturday.
One of the twins, Sarah Morales, has an excellent chance of survival, they said in a news conference Thursday at the hospital. The second twin, Sarahi, has a defective heart and her chances are not as good.
The twins were born Jan. 12 in a Tijuana, Mexico, clinic. They were transported a week later to Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
The decision to operate came after about 30 doctors conducted tests and studied the twins to determine if surgery would be possible.
