Crashed Seaplane Pulled From Lake
A seaplane that crashed in Hauser Lake Sunday was pulled from the water by a crane Monday.
No one was injured when the sea plane, piloted by Stacy L. Vanderburg, 32, of Deer Park, Wash., flipped upside in the lake at about 8 p.m. Sunday.
Vanderburg and passenger Richard C. Clark, 34, of Cusick, Wash., were motoring the plane across the lake when the front pontoons caught on the surface, causing the aircraft to flip over, said Sgt. Dan Soumas of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.
The airplane was traveling at low speeds and, “They unstrapped their seat belts and got out before it sank,” Soumas said.
The airplane was pulled from the lake Monday by a large crane.
Damage to the four-seater aircraft was estimated between $20,000 and $25,000.
