All 19 of the woodland caribou released in Pend Oreille County in April are alive, and some are having calves. Twelve of the threatened species are cows, one of which has been spotted with a calf, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Department reports.
Biologists have been using radio telemetry equipment to monitor the caribou since they were trapped in British Columbia and released northeast of Sullivan Lake. , DataTimes
