Usgs, Forests Unite

Outdoor information

The U.S. Geological Survey and the Forest Service have combined their Spokane map sales and public affairs offices into a one-stop downtown information hub.

The new Earth Science/National Forest Information Center is scheduled to open Monday in Room 135 of the Post Office at 904 W. Riverside.

Both agencies have served separately in the Spokane area for nearly 30 years. The USGS distributes maps, reports, aerial photography and digital cartographic data for the Pacific Northwest. The Forest Service provides recreation information, maps, nature materials plus wood and Christmas tree permits.
