Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: When pumping gas at the gas station, I often get back in my car to find my hand reeking of gasoline because the pump wasn’t clean - frustrating, since soap and water alone do not rid my hand of the awful smell. I now keep a thick work glove wrapped in a plastic bag in my trunk. Every time I fill up, I put the glove. No more gasoline smell!- Valerie Slater, Topeka, Kan.

Dear Heloise: To end up-down confusion when using plain legal pad covers, planners and briefcases, put a small dot of typewriter correction fluid on a corner of the front of the planner, notebook or top of the briefcase. The dot easily indicates which way is up yet isn’t a highly noticeable mark on the cover.- Peter Lour, Hudson, Ohio
