Derailment Spills Corn Syrup, Sweetener

Compiled From Wire Services

Crews worked to repair tracks Monday after 50 train cars derailed on a stone arch bridge, spilling corn syrup and powdered corn sweetener into the Little Juniata River.

The only people aboard the 138-car train Sunday - the engineer and conductor - were not hurt.

Investigators haven’t determined what caused the accident.
