Dear Heloise: Why can’t stove manufacturers replace the Low, Medium, Medium-high and High with an approximate temperature to correspond with the temperature of the element? It is done for electric frying pans. The only difference would be in the cooking utensil you are using other than the constant bottom of the frying pan. It’s hard to guess when you are making candies and using some of the newer recipes. Even pancake boxes tell you what temperature the griddle should be.- Barbara P. Wilson, Locust Grove, Va. xxxx
