Man With Hiv Sentenced For Having Sex With Girl
An HIV-infected man who had sex with an 11-year-old girl has been sentenced to 48 years in prison for attempted murder.
Jesus Perez’ case is believed to be Colorado’s first in which an HIV-infected suspect was convicted of attempted murder through sex, said prosecutor Karl Tameler.
Perez, 31, had initially been charged only with sexual assault in the 1994 attack, but that changed to attempted murder when Perez’s condition came to light. Prosecutor’s contended Perez knew the girl could be infected with the virus that causes AIDS.
