Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Before I throw away old tennis socks, I cut them down about 4-1/2 inches from the top, fold in half and use them as sweat bands on my wrist when I play tennis. Also, I use them unfolded on tall glasses of cold drinks in order to prevent sweating. The elastic tops hold them securely. How stingy can I get? Don’t ask! - Hal Evans, Boynton Beach, Fla.

You’re not cheap, just resourceful! - Heloise

Dear Heloise: Sometimes it’s difficult to determine the center of a sheet. I mark the center with a few stitches of thread in a contrasting color. - Lucille Libby, Mechanicsburg, Pa. xxxx
