Dollar Ends Slightly Higher

The dollar ended marginally higher against most key currencies Tuesday after a Bank of Japan economic report suggested Japanese interest rates won’t rise anytime soon.

Top finance officials in the United States and Germany also helped support the dollar.

Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin said a strong dollar is in U.S. interests. A senior German Bundesbank official indicated the central bank may ease rates Thursday, which could diminish demand for marks and help the dollar.
