The Pittsburgh Steelers reached a verbal agreement for a new contract with Greg Lloyd, but team officials would not say whether the deal would make Lloyd the NFL’s highest-paid linebacker.

Junior Seau of the San Diego Chargers is currently the NFL’s top-paid linebacker at $4 million per year. A contract will likely be signed today.

Seattle Seahawks fullback Steve Smith is retiring because of a back injury.
