New faces:

Kevin Glynn has joined D.A. Davidson & Co.’s Coeur d’Alene office as associate vice president, investments. Glynn, who is a certified financial planner, previously spent five years as an investment representative for West One Bank and Key Bank.

John Serben has joined Farmin, Rothrock & Parrott Inc. as a commercial account producer. He has held various sales and marketing positions in the insurance industry.

Crowley Realty Better Homes & Gardens has hired Brian Scott as a sales associate. Scott previously managed a retail store at NorthTown Mall.

The Mars Hotel has made the following staff appointments:

Micheal Moulchin was named director of gaming, safety and security. Moulchin has 17-years of experience in casinos.

Melissa Beckett was appointed controller. She previously was an account manager for Pathology Associates.

Julie Raftis, formerly with Patsy Clark’s Mansion, was named manager of public relations, marketing and training.

Gary Karnes has joined Northern State Bank in Coeur d’Alene as vice president and manager of the home loan center. Karnes has 17 years of banking experience in Idaho.

Jessie McManigal has become a senior associate and partner at Alliance Pacific Inc. McManigal previously was vice president of communications for United Way.

Ken Degerness, a founding member of Alliance Pacific, has stepped down as an associate and partner in the public relations and issues management firm.

Suzette McGoldrick has joined Re/ Max of Spokane as a sales associate. McGoldrick, previously with Prudential, specializes in residential and investment property.

Moving up:

Lisa Ellison has been named a mortgage loan officer at First Security Bank in Coeur d’Alene. Ellison, who joined the bank in 1995 with several years of experience in residential lending, previously was a loan processor.

Stephanie Graff was promoted to bar manager at the Mars Hotel.

Lea Werner has been promoted to senior vice president, marketing division, at Washington Trust Bank. She will have an active role in the bank’s strategic marketing planning in addition to her current responsibilities for advertising, promotion, public relations and research.

Dennis Scollon has been named manager of the Sandpoint Job Service office, replacing Lee Sieckmann, who has retired. Scollon, a 21-year veteran of the office, most recently was claims examiner in the unemployment insurance program.

MSB-Blue Sheild of Idaho announced the following promotions:

John Stellmon to senior vice president and general counsel. Stellmon has been with MSB-Blue Shield since 1990.

John Ruch to senior vice president of health care services. Ruch has been with MSB-Blue Sheild since 1995.

Dr. John Rusche to vice president of medical affairs. Rusche joined MSB-Blue Shield in 1995.

Starting up:

The John L. Scott realty company has opened a North Spokane office at 220 W. Francis. Dwight Hille is the owner and plans to have 20 agents on staff. Hille has 26 years of sales and management experience. Steve Hagen, a veteran of retail management in the Spokane area, will be the designated broker for the company.

Cartoon Classics has opened a fourth retail location at Center Court in Coeur d’Alene’s Silver Lake Mall. Owners Bill and Cheryl Sieveke also have stores at NorthTown Mall and University City in Spokane and Columbia Center in Kennewick.

Moving:

Abrasives Spokane has moved to 3111 E. Wabash, where it shares space with another company called Master Blasters.

Transactions:

A partnership between United Way of Spokane County and Spokane Mental Health has resulted in the merger of United Way’s Information and Assistance Line into Spokane Mental Health’s 24-Hour Crisis Hotline. The new hotline name will be First Call for Help.

Martha Wiley Environmental, a Spokane-based environmental consulting firm and certified Women Business Enterprise, was awarded a contract to assist John Carollo Engineers, a national engineering company, with permitting for the San Diego Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Elected:

Michael Shollenberger, owner of Memories by Michael Photography Studio, has taken office as president of the Washington State Photographers Association. Shollenberger has been a photographer in Spokane for 13 years.

The new officers for Goodwill Industries for 1996 are: Marcea Mandsager, US West Communications, chairman; Jim Hawley, Kiemle & Hagood Co., vice chairman; James Calderhead, secretary; and Charles Romberg, Andre-Romberg Insurance Agency Inc., treasurer.

New officers for the Inland Northwest Society of Consulting Professionals for 1996 are: Edward Coker Jr., Critical Data Inc., president; Harvey Meier CME, Harvey A. Meier Co., vice president; Donald Spencer, Krypton Institute, secretary; and Bert Mills, Mills Group Northwest, treasurer. Jennifer Leake, Profiles-Leake & Associates, will serve as at-large representative to the executive committee.

The following officers were elected by the Inland Empire Chapter of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES): Jack Fallis, Global Federal Credit Union, president; Mike Sanders, Washington State Employees Credit Union, vice president; Terri Wilson, Spokane Teachers Credit Union, secretary; and Rob Stewart, Roundup Federal Credit Union, treasurer.

Appointed:

Steve Wilson, director of sales and marketing at The Coeur d’Alene Resort, was appointed by Idaho Governor Philip Batt to serve as the state’s At-Large Member of the Idaho Travel Council. Wilson served as the State of Idaho’s Travel Director before joining The Coeur d’Alene Resort in 1984.

Kudos:

D.E. McKelvey Jr. has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. McKelvey is a sole practitioner and has been practicing in Spokane for 25 years.

A logo created by WenDt Advertising will be published in American Corporate Identity’s 1996 annual. The winning logo was developed by WenDt for Agrium, a fertilizer distributor, and was part of an entire name change campaign implemented when Cominco Fertilizers became Agrium last year.
