Hillyard Baptist Welcomes Pastor

The Rev. John R. Dotson looks at Hillyard Baptist Church as being in a great location “to reach out to people in need.”

Dotson, who began as the church’s senior pastor this month, said the area’s diverse neighborhood presents a great opportunity for his congregation to “demonstrate that the church is family and that we’re there to build up and take care of one another.”

A welcoming and installation service for Dotson will be at 3 p.m. Sunday and be followed by a reception.

Dotson, a native of West Virginia, received a degree in philosophy from Marshall University. He worked with the Campus Crusade for Christ for four years before entering Western Conservative Baptist Seminary. He and his family come to Spokane from Portland, where he was pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Hillyard Baptist Church, with a membership of 200, is affiliated with the Western Conservative Baptist Association.
