Menendez Retrial Goes To The Jury

The second trial of Erik and Lyle Menendez, charged with the shotgun slayings of their parents, went to the jurors Friday.

The brothers were retried on in the 1989 shotgun slayings of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in their Beverly Hills mansion on Aug. 20, 1989.

Prosecutors claim Erik, 25, and Lyle, 28, murdered their parents in a greedy bid for the $14 million family fortune.

In their first trial, in 1994, a separate jury was assigned to each brother; both panels deadlocked. A single jury heard this retrial.
