Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Through the years I have learned so much from your column and books and I thank you. I hope the following hint may be useful to others.

Portable phones - what a blessing they are, especially to the older folks. I carry mine with me from room to room. Should I fall and/or need immediate assistance when I am alone, I am confident I would remember to dial 911.

But I have a dog and would need help for her. I call the necessary phone numbers of friends.

I use gummed labels and attach several to the phone itself, as there is plenty of room. Now I relax knowing I will be able to phone others for help. - Dorothy J. Ronay, New Braunfels, Texas

I love your hint! Did you know some cordless phones are also helpful because they can be used as a pager too? Many of the models have a button that you can push to locate the phone and this feature can ring the phone, letting someone know that you need them. Thanks for writing. - Heloise
