Former Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier was feeling better and could be released from a Lincoln, Neb., hospital next week. Frazier was admitted Monday for a sinus infection.

American Tom “Boom” Johnson overcame a first-round knockdown by Ever Beleno, and stopped the Colombian in the final round to retain his IBF featherweight title. South African Thulane “Sugar Boy” Malinga got even for a disputed loss almost four years ago to take Nigel Benn’s WBC super middleweight title on a 12-round split decision. Both fights were at Newcastle, England.

Jim Courier continued his march through the U.S. Indoor by trouncing Mark Woodforde 6-2, 6-1 to reach today’s final. He’ll meet Chris Woodruff of Knoxville, Tenn., who beat Todd Woodbridge 64, 6-4.
