Daniel Shaw St. Maries

Service for Daniel J. Shaw, 17, will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Heyburn Gymnasium in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. YatesHodge Funeral Home of St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shaw, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Saturday after falling through ice Friday near St. Maries.

He grew up in St. Maries and attended local schools. He was a member of the St. Maries Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts and was working on his Eagle Scout project.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his parents, Albert and Linda Shaw, and five brothers, Jeff, Ryan, Andrew, Marcus and Kevin Shaw, all of St. Maries; two sisters, Janie Haeg and Niki Shaw, both of St. Maries; and grandparents, Raeford and Lynen Gibb of Ellensburg, and Walter and Laura Shaw of Massachusetts.

Jason Moore St. Maries

Service for Jason E. Moore, 17, will be today at 2 p.m. at the Heyburn Gymnasium in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Moore, who was born in Missoula, died Saturday after falling through ice Friday near St. Maries.

He grew up in St. Maries and attended local schools.

He was a member of the St. Maries Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his father, Scott Moore of Missoula; his mother and stepfather, Karen and Mike Lemke of St. Maries; brother and sister, Jeff and Candace Moore, both of St. Maries; and grandparents, Ross and Dorothy Moore of Denver, and Reldon and Joan Schlappy of St. Maries.

Linda Morgan Ritzville, Wash.

Visitation for Linda Lorrine Morgan, 50, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville. Burial will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Morgan, a former St. Maries resident, died Saturday. She was born in Eureka, Nev.

She married Calvin “Butch” Morgan in 1969 in Winnemucca, Nev., and they lived in Elko, Nev., where she worked in a dental office.

They moved to St. Maries in 1978 and to Ritzville in 1982.

In 1983 she opened Just Your Style, a dress shop, which she sold in 1993. She had also worked for Wheatland Bank and most recently, as a legal secretary for Miller, Dano and Ries in Ritzville.

She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Xi Delta Chi Chapter No. 6448.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Morgan; three sons, Angelo “Bo” and Joe Morgan, both of Spokane, and Rob Morgan of Wenatchee; two brothers, Bob Nuttall of Winnemucca and Ed Nuttall of Yakima; two sisters, Chloe Dupree of Elko and Charlene Neilsen of Carlin, Nev.; and two grandchildren.

Oscar Upton Spokane

Private service for Oscar D. Upton, 82, was held.

Mr. Upton died Friday.

He was born in Republic, Wash.

He moved to Spokane with his family as an infant. He graduated from Hillyard High School.

Mr. Upton was a longtime Spokane resident and worked as secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Union Local 582. He retired in 1977 after 27 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ludillen Upton; one daughter, Barbara Jewell of Riverside, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Ronald Anderson Rathdrum, Idaho

Service for Ronald Eugene Anderson, 55, will be today at 10 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Anderson, who was born in St. Petersburg, Fla., died Thursday.

He grew up in California and worked as a truck driver. He later moved to southern Idaho before moving to Rathdrum in 1988.

He graduated from Phillips Junior College in Spokane and retired from Harper’s/Kimball International in 1994 due to illness.

Mr. Anderson enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, JoAnne; a son, Gene Elliott of Wyoming; two daughters, Jacqueline DeMadge of Indiana and Connie Blatter of Rathdrum; his mother, Ellen Anderson of California; a brother, Daryl Anderson of California; two sisters, Debbie Connor of Florida and Sheryl Shirmmer of California; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Lawrence ‘Larry’ Harris Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Lawrence R. “Larry” Harris, 82, will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Harris, who was born in Genesee, Idaho, died Friday.

He was a longtime Genesee rancher before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1985.

He had worked as an outfitter and packer in Oregon before moving to Genesee.

Mr. Harris enjoyed having college students work on his ranch, and was a member of the Kootenai Masonic Lodge No. 24, Shriners, the Lewiston Elks Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lou, in 1985.

Survivors include three brothers, Harold “Hal” Harris of Coeur d’Alene, Edward Harris of Salem, Ore., and Charles Harris of California; and three sisters, Anna Munday and Irene Morris, both of San Jose, Calif., and Margaret Summer of Oregon.

Clarence Buddrius Odessa, Wash.

Service for Clarence G. Buddrius, 78, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Harrington, Wash.

Mr. Buddrius, who died Thursday, was born on a farm at Odessa.

He graduated from high school in Marlin, Wash., and married his high school sweetheart, LuVerna Weishaar, in 1938 at her family’s home.

They settled in the Irby area, west of Odessa. They raised cattle and broke horses.

He served in the Air Force during World War II and later operated the Odessa meat plant.

They moved to Harrington, Wash., in 1945 and farmed until 1961.

They operated the Village Store in Airway Heights until 1967, when they obtained a Vanda distributorship, a division of Rexall, and moved to Everett.

They retired and returned to Odessa in 1980.

Mr. Buddrius was a member of Harrington Community Church and Acacia Masonic Lodge 58 in Davenport.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years; one son, DeWane Buddrius of Harrington; one daughter, Lonna Taylor of Lake Stevens, Wash.; three brothers, Richard Buddrius of Leavenworth, Wash., Sam Buddrius of Lady Lake, Fla., and Victor Buddrius of Blanchard, Idaho; one sister, Gertrude Keihn of Dryden, Wash.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Donna Wiley Spokane

Memorial service for Donna Jeanne Wiley, 52, is planned for 10 a.m. today at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wiley, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.

She graduated from North Central High School and worked as a medical secretary for Pathology Associates in Spokane.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Wiley Sr.; two daughters, Catherine Lewis of Spokane and Jennifer Wiley of Seattle; two sons, Gerald Wiley Jr. of Spokane and Antony Wiley of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Valerie Bonser of Mesa, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Jack O’Donnell Spokane

Service for Jack Eugene O’Donnell, 68, will be at 11 a.m Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Medical Lake. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. O’Donnell, who died Thursday, was born in Spokane.

He had lived in Spokane, Cheney and Medical Lake.

He graduated from North Central High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University and a master’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga University.

Mr. O’Donnell served in the Marine Corps for four years and in the Air Force for 16 years. He served four tours of duty in Vietnam flying tankers.

He later taught business at Eastern Washington University.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Josephine O’Donnell; one son, John O’Donnell of Lake Oswego, Ore.; one sister, Mary O’Donnell of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Tillman ‘Tim’ Schonewald Jr. Smelterville, Idaho

Memorial service for Tillman “Tim” Schonewald Jr., 62, will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schonewald, a lifetime Silver Valley resident, died Saturday.

He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1951 and was a serviceman/ foreman for Washington Water Power Co., for 40 years before retiring in 1992.

Mr. Schonewald was a charter member of the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg and the Smelterville Lions Club. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, JoAnn; three sons, Doug Schonewald of Moses Lake, Blair Schonewald of Kingston, Idaho, and Todd Schonewald of Kellogg; one daughter, Christine Meyer of Osburn, Idaho; and 10 grandchildren.

Cosette ‘Cozy’ Brunell Spokane

Service for T. Cosette “Cozy” Brunell, 78, will be at 3 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brunell died Friday. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia.

She moved to Spokane in 1923 with her family and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

She had worked as a bookkeeper at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

She lived in Spokane for 55 years before moving to Vancouver, Wash. She returned to Spokane in 1991.

She was a member of the Nine Mile Women’s Club.

Her former husband, Robert Turk, died in 1987.

She married Leonard Brunell in 1978.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Judith Shapiro of Spokane and Cheryl Threatt of Olympia; one stepdaughter, Marie Woodson of Portland; two stepsons, Gary Brunell of Vancouver and Steve Brunell of Orchard, Wash.; one brother, James Bradshaw of Nine Mile Falls; and one grandson.

William Price Spokane

Memorial service for William A. Price, a retired Air Force senior master sergeant, will be at 2 p.m. today at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Price, who died Thursday, was born in Billings, Mont. He was 56.

He graduated from high school in Billings and joined the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in 1985 after 28 years and then moved to Spokane.

For the past eight years, he had worked as an electrical technician with the Postal Service.

He was a member of Shiloh Hills Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45, the Eagles Lodge and the American Postal Workers Union.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Donna Price; one stepson, Mark Clasen of Valentine, Neb.; one brother, Daniel Price of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Margaret Langworthy of Federal Way, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Josephine Rowan Spokane

Visitation for Josephine L. Rowan, 89, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Private entombment will precede the memorial service.

Born in Pullman, Mrs. Rowan died Thursday.

She was a longtime Spokane resident and, in the 1950s, was one of Spokane’s first female Realtors. She worked for George C. Nichols Co. for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Manito Golf and Country Club. Two husbands, Eli Cooke and Clyde Rowan, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Carole Jones; one stepdaughter, Joyce Heiser of Seattle; two stepsons, Russell Rowan of Albion, Mich., and Clifford Rowan of Tucson, Ariz; one sister, Hazel Knight of Mercer Island, Wash.; three grandsons, 10 stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 11 stepgreat-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-granddaughters.

James Reno Spokane

Funeral Mass for James Reno, 79, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reno, who died Friday, was born in Walsenburg, Colo.

He was a longtime Spokane resident and retired from Great Northern Railway.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, Sons of Norway, Vasa, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 and the Eagles Lodge.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Reno is survived by his wife, Velma Reno; one son, Guy Reno of Spokane; one daughter, Roberta Grummer of Richland; one brother, Frank Reno, and one sister, Connie Barr, both of Spokane; and 11 grandchildren.

Ruth Domke Liberty Lake

Service for Ruth Alene (Stephenson) Domke, 83, is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty Lake Community Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Domke, who died Feb. 28, was born in Ashtabula, Ohio.

She moved to the Spokane area in 1915 and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1930.

Mrs. Domke was a bookkeeper.

She was a member of Liberty Lake Community Church, Rebekah Lodge and the Liberty Lake Garden Club.

Her husband, John Domke, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one brother, Lyle Stephenson of Liberty Lake.

Doris Shauvin Spokane

Memorial service for Doris L. Shauvin, 80, was Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Shauvin died Thursday.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband, David Shauvin, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan Flynn of Spokane and Shirley Johnson of Colbert; one brother, Wes Harvey of Spokane; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Helen Kelliher Portland < Service for Helen E. Kelliher, a former Spokane resident, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Zeller Chapel of the Roses in Portland. Burial service will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Kelliher, 84, died Friday at Karrington Care Center in Portland.

She was born in Spokane and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Parish and the Jesuit Mothers Auxiliary.

She moved to Portland in 1991 to live near her daughter.

Her husband, Michael Kelliher, died in 1967.

Mrs. Kelliher is survived by three sons, Timothy Kelliher and Michael Kelliher, S.J., both of Seattle, and Patrick Kelliher of Portland; one daughter, Shirley Long of Portland; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Kennedy Cheney

Memorial service for Kathleen M. Kennedy, 86, was Saturday at Cheney United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Kennedy, who died Thursday, was born in Waverly, Wash.

She graduated from Washington State College and taught school in Oakesdale, Wash.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, P.E.O., a philanthropic educational organization, and the choir at Cheney United Church of Christ.

She had lived in Cheney for 36 years.

Her husband, Kenneth Kennedy died in January 1995.

She is survived by one son, Pat Kennedy of Poquoson, Va.; one daughter, Karen Ruenheck of Windermere, Fla.; one brother, Gordon Lynch of Spokane; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Alice May Burchett Spokane

Memorial service for Alice May Burchett, 81, was Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Born in Huron, S.D., Mrs. Burchett died Feb. 25.

She had lived in Spokane since 1957 and was clerk for the city Building Department.

Mrs. Burchett was a member of Women of the Moose No. 161.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Emery Burchett; two sons, Leslie Kvool of Rochelle, Ill., and James Kvool of Las Vegas, Nev.; three stepsons, Don, Lloyd and Floyd Burchett, all of Spokane; two daughters, Susan Blakesley and Kathy Roethle, both of Spokane; three stepdaughters, Jackie Brown of Spokane, Shirley Quist of Pullman and Sharon O’Connor of Montesano, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chester Burrow Spokane

Service for Chester A. Burrow, 78, was Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Burial followed.

Mr. Burrow, who died Friday, was born in Sprague, Wash. He had lived in Spokane since 1942.

He was an auto mechanic and owned a service station.

Mr. Burrow was a member of Eagles Lodge 2.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Alice Burrow; two sons, Larry and James Burrow, both of Spokane; three daughters, Mary Kay Rush of Merritt, Fla., and Sharon Rudd and Colleen Ann Jacobsen, both of Spokane; one sister, Sylvia Larson of Milwaukie, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
