Sheriff’s Captain To Challenge Hasson
A sheriff’s captain plans to announce his candidacy for the Spokane County Commission seat held by Steve Hasson.
Don Manning, a 35-year member of the sheriff’s department, will file as a Republican and face Hasson in the primary, a news release states.
Manning went home sick Friday and could not be reached for comment.
According to his written statement, Manning’s “primary concerns are public safety, protecting private-property rights, and strong, consistent leadership in county government.”
He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and serves on the board of the Union Gospel Mission.
Manning will announce his candidacy at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the courtyard of the Spokane Public Safety Building.
In addition to Hasson, who is seeking his third term, Democrat Ron Hormann, former county engineer, has announced for the position.
