Dear Heloise: One of the best ideas that has been so helpful to me is a pressure shower curtain rod over the center of my bathtub.

Hanging wet raincoats, umbrellas or hand-washed items drip directly into the tub. Of course, it must be high enough so you don’t bump your head, but it sure is handy for me. - V. Stephens, Galveston, Texas <

Dear Heloise: I tape an automobile deodorant (tree-shaped) on the inside cover of my trash pail.
