Marie Edmiston Newport, Wash.

Service for Marie I. Edmiston, 67, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport. Burial will follow at Newport Cemetery.

Mrs. Edmiston, who died Wednesday, was born in Arnold, Neb.

She was a resident of Newport and of Oldtown, Idaho, for 46 years.

She worked as a clerk at the Newport Post Office.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John; two sons, Dan Edmiston of Newport and Dennis Edmiston of Blanchard, Idaho; two sisters, Ellen Veer of Oldtown and Lois Henning of Seattle; two brothers, Marvin Woodward and Cecil Seaney, both of Seattle; and four granddaughters.

Donald Knezevich Spokane

Service for Donald M. Knezevich, 76, was held Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Knezevich, who died Sunday, was born in Spokane.

He served in the Army during World War II. After the war he was a furniture salesman in Spokane.

He is survived by a cousin, Marie Kelly of Anacortes, Wash.

Helen Jensen Spokane

Private burial service for Helen Berlin Jensen, 70, is scheduled for Monday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A Spokane resident for 61 years ,Mrs. Jensen died Wednesday.

She was a homemaker and a sustaining member of the Junior League.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley; two sons, Michael Jensen and Stanley Jensen, both of Spokane; three daughters, Molly Campbell of Sidney, Australia, Sally Girard of Los Angeles and Patty Busto of Spokane; one brother, Richard Berlin of Monterey, Calif; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George’s School Scholarship Fund.

Marvel Thomas Redmond, Wash.

Service for Marvel L. Thomas, 91, will be 1 p.m. today at Beck’s Funeral Home in Edmonds, Wash. Graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park in Spokane.

Mrs. Thomas, a former longtime Spokane resident, died Tuesday in Redmond.

She was born in Montpelier, Ohio.

A graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker.

She and her husband, Ralph, lived in the Spokane area until 1990, when they moved to the Redmond area. He died in 1991.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by two sons, Gary Thomas of Snohomish, Wash., and Ronald Thomas of San Diego; five granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

Howard Abbott Colfax, Wash.

Service for Howard Wayne Abbott, 79, was Monday at United Methodist Church.

Mr. Abbott, who died March 6, was born at Clear Creek near Colfax.

He graduated from Colfax High School and enlisted in the Washington State National Guard in 1937 and began serving in the regular Army in 1940. He served as an infantry commander with the 32nd Infantry Division in New Guinea and the Philippines. He received a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars.

Following the war, he worked as a farmer, mechanic, Colfax police officer, blacksmith and chief deputy sheriff for Whitman County.

He married Dorothy Pendergrass in 1941 in Colfax.

He was a member of Colfax United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Odd Fellows, Washington State Clerks Association, North and South Palouse Grange, National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club and the Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary and David Abbott, both of the Tri-Cities; three brothers, Arnold Abbott of Potlatch, Idaho, and Dean and William Abbott, both of Spokane; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Colfax United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Ray Wilson Spokane

Service for Ray O. Wilson, 70, will be 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

A lifetime resident of Spokane, Mr. Wilson died Wednesday.

He worked as a construction crane operator and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 370.

He is survived by two daughters; Sandra Wilson and Linda Wilson, both of Spokane; one son, Michael Wilson of San Diego; one sister, Juanita Douglas of Spokane; one brother, Frank Wilson of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Melva Craig Olympia

Service for Melva J. Craig, 67, was Thursday at Evergreen Christian Center, Olympia. Burial was at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lacey, Wash. American Memorial Funeral Directors of Olympia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Craig, who was born in Pendleton, Ore., died Tuesday.

She married Harold Craig in 1948, and they lived in Spokane until 1972, when they moved to Olympia.

Mrs. Craig was a volunteer at Lacey Seniors and a member of Evergreen Christian Center in Olympia.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Beverly Hutnik of Lacey; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Joseph Loster Ione, Wash.

No service will be held for Joseph Edward Loster, 67. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Loster, who died Tuesday, was born in Arapahoe, Colo.

He married Phoebe Gillett in 1950. She died last year.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and worked as a tree faller for Somada Logging and Harrington Logging of Curlew, Wash. .

He is survived by four sons, Frank Loster and Mike Loster both of Ione, Larry Loster of Shelley, Idaho, and Pat Loster of Metaline, Wash.; two daughters, Caroline Baumbach of Eldon, Mo., and Linda Singer of Danville, Wash.; one sister, Phyllis Wolverton of Pasco; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Dixie Coyle Hayden Lake, Idaho

Service for Dixie Lee Coyle, 65, will be Monday at noon at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Coyle, who was born in Oklahoma, died Wednesday.

She moved to the Hayden Lake area after retiring from the Air Force in 1974. She was a homemaker and enjoyed oil painting.

Mrs. Coyle was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Spirit Lake, Idaho.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Francis; four sons, Michael of Sacramento, Calif., Timothy of Liberty Lake, David of Maryland and Joseph of Pinehurst, Idaho; three daughters, Lynda Fernandez of Texas, and Amy Cole and Mary Hopkins, both of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, Billy Garrett of California; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, S.D.

Thomas Harold Anthony Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Thomas Harold Anthony, 96, was held earlier at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Anthony, who was born in Dorchester, Md., died Wednesday.

He had lived in Nova Scotia, New Jersey and Ellensburg before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1929.

He had worked for Valley Ice and Fuel, Kootenai Electric Cooperative and Colony Mobile Home Court before retiring.

Mr. Anthony enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling and was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Electrical Workers Union Local No. 77.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Fern, in 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Steven, both of Coeur d’Alene; one daughter, Sally Pierson of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, Howard of Mercer Island, Wash.; two sisters, Kezia Nunley and Thelma Anthony of Ellensburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
