Stojko Attempts Third World Title
Elvis Stojko seeks his third straight title this week at the World Figure Skating Championships. Kurt Browning, a four-time world champion, has no doubt his successor as king of Canadian skating can grab another crown.
The last time the worlds were held in Canada, in 1990 at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Browning won his second championship.
American champion Rudy Galindo, who also has had ankle problems since his stunning victory in January, is a long shot at worlds.
One U.S. woman, Michelle Kwan, is a contender. She’s a favorite at the tender age of 15.
The 1996 worlds open with men’s qualifying today.
