Auschwitz Mall Plans Suspended

Compiled From Wire Services

Authorities suspended construction Friday of a mini-mall across the street from the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz after protests from Jewish leaders.

Jewish organizations across the world opposed plans by a Polish entrepreneur and German financier to turn decrepit warehouses opposite the camp into a shopping center with fast-food stands, clothing stores and a 200-car parking lot.
