Wsp Trooper Receives Honor

FOR THE RECORD: March 26, 1996 CORRECTION: The job titles of two men honored by the Washington State Patrol were wrong on Saturday. Bob Shockley is a commercial vehicle enforcement officer. Jeff Lopez is a communications officer.

Trooper Wayne Turner of Spokane received the Washington State Patrol’s second-highest award Friday.

Patrol Chief Annette Sandberg presented Turner with the Award of Merit in a ceremony in Spokane.

According to a press release, Turner was honored for pulling a gunshot victim to safety in the Spokane Valley last September and providing cover for a county deputy who rescued another victim.

Turner also was commended for his work fighting car thefts. He recovered more stolen vehicles than any other trooper in Eastern Washington last year, the release stated.

Trooper Karey Reisdorph, who works in the Spokane Valley, won the District 4 Trooper of the Year Award. District 4 covers Spokane and six other counties in Eastern Washington.

Sandberg also presented awards to troopers Bob Shockley, Jeff Lopez and Joe Pass. , DataTimes
