Earnings Report
TeleCommunications Inc., the nation’s largest cable operator, reported Wednesday a bigger fourth-quarter loss than a year earlier due in part to investments in its operations.
The company posted a loss of $79 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with a $1 million loss in the same period a year earlier. It did not provide per-share figures. Revenue increased to $1.91 billion from $1.51 billion.
TCI’s loss, the company said, was due to investments in its satellite and cable businesses and equipment upgrades, as well as preparation for launching new products.
For the full year, TeleCommunications lost $171 million.
