Clinton Way Ahead

New York Daily News

President Clinton surged to his biggest lead yet over his main challenger, Sen. Bob Dole, in polls released Tuesday.

Clinton now boasts a 21-point lead nationally - 58 percent to 37 percent - over the Kansas Republican, according to a CNN/USA Today Gallup Poll.

Nobody expects Clinton’s huge lead to survive through the Nov. 5 election. Even so, Gallup reports that no presidential candidate has ever lost after leading by so much six months before the vote.
