Woman Hurt In Carjacking
A Spokane Valley woman suffered minor injuries during a carjacking early Sunday.
The woman, 46, who was not identified, told Spokane County sheriff’s deputies she was stopped for a red light at Broadway Avenue and Bowdish Road when a man opened the driver’s side door about 1 a.m. Sunday.
The man shoved the woman to the passenger side of the car, seated himself in the driver’s seat and started driving, deputies said.
The woman attempted to jump out the passenger door, but the carjacker held her in the car while driving. The man then parked the car about a mile from where he had taken it, took cash from his victim’s purse and ran.
Deputies said the victim drove to Valley Hospital and Medical Center for treatment of a sore arm and shoulder, which were injured when she was shoved across the car.
Deputies described the carjacker as a middle-aged Hispanic male with graying hair. He was about 5 feet 10 and weighed about 170 pounds.
The woman said she thinks her attacker was drunk.
