Car Rear-Ends 7-Eleven Store

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane teenager lost control of her car Sunday and plowed backward into a 7-Eleven store in north Spokane, police said.

A clerk and a customer sustained minor injuries in the wreck. The driver, Shalimar Joy Williams, 18, of 1327 W. Providence, was not hurt.

The store was closed Monday. 7-Eleven officials said they hope to re-open today.

The accident occurred about 10:20 p.m. after Williams left the store at 1006 W. Garland and climbed into her 1979 Cadillac El Dorado parked outside.

When she started the engine, the car unexpectedly jerked into reverse and slammed into the store, police said.

The car crashed through the front wall and window, and plowed into the cashier’s counter, where it stopped.

Police cited Williams for driving with defective equipment, driving without a valid license, driving without proof of insurance and being a minor in possession of alcohol. , DataTimes
