Dollar Dips Against Mark
The dollar rose against the Japanese yen and nearly recovered its losses against the German mark on Tuesday amid relief that investors absorbed the first leg of a record three-day sale of U.S. government securities.
“It wasn’t a day where the market committed itself to any particular direction,” said Dan Ascani, president and director of research of Global Market Strategists Inc.
As of 4 p.m. in New York, the dollar stood at 105.13 yen, up from 104.88 yen Monday, and 1.5253 marks, just down from 1.5254.
