Kellogg Approves Levy
Kellogg residents on Tuesday approved a two-year supplemental levy that school district officials say is needed for nuts-and-bolts operation of the schools.
The levy passed with a 57 percent majority - 524 “yes” votes to 398 opposed, according to district Superintendent Larry Curry.
All four precincts approved the levy.
The extra $842,500, collected over two years, adds $3 per month to the average property tax bill.
The district’s total budget for next year is estimated at roughly $7.4 million.
Last year’s supplemental levy was for $698,000. It was approved with 61 percent of the vote; a simple majority is needed.
It’s been years since other state and local funds have been enough to fund the district’s needs, said Curry.
