Dear Heloise: My cat urinated on a blue bath mat. Is there some way to remove the odor? I know that if there’s any solution to this problem, you’ll have the answer. - Marilyn Tomich, Kansas

We spoke with a leading manufacturer and they said that the majority of the mats can be machine washed. So, wash the mat in the hottest water and the correct amount of laundry detergent.

Or, if you don’t want to wash it in your machine, take the mat outside and give it a good washing with liquid detergent and use a straw broom for good cleaning action. This should do the trick. - Heloise
