Dream Has You In Holding Pattern
Dear Nancy: I am holding a temporary, part-time job. It may become permanent and full time in a couple of months. I enjoy this job thoroughly, but I’m being pressured by my family to find a full-time position.
I have been asking for a dream to help me with this issue. This is my dream. - Anne
I am my current age (25) and I’m back attending my elementary school. The students welcome me here and the teachers and I are friends since we are all adults. They sympathize with me saying, “It must be hard to do the fifth grade again after so long.” Everyone is sweet and very friendly.
At lunch, I sit at a gorgeous oak dining table for two. A small boy sits across from me. I see we are the only ones with a phone at our table. The phone rings and I answer. I can hear breathing and almost a mysterious, stifled laugh. I keep saying, “Hello.” I want to talk to them.
Dear Anne: Working a temporary, part-time job may be bringing up feelings of being back in the fifth grade. You shared with me on the telephone that you have a master’s degree. Your parents pressuring you to look for a more stable, permanent position more compatible with your qualifications may be compounding these feelings.
This school is very comfortable, friendly and nurturing. Children in dreams often are symbols of something growing in the dreamer’s life. Children and babies also suggest potential and point to our childlike nature.
The child who sits across from you at the table may represent new beginnings, new potentials and new values. The fact that this is a lunch table suggests that these new beginnings will be fed and nurtured into being.
Phone calls received in dreams often depict connections with parts of ourselves that are trying to give us guidance and messages. You answer the call but the message isn’t given yet.
Anne, I think this dream may be asking you to wait a little longer. You are where you belong at this time. You may feel like you’re in the fifth grade right now, but the call will come and you will answer and hear the message when you are ready.
Good luck, Anne.
Tips for readers: Telephones in dreams have much to offer. They are a connection to our inner worlds and our own inner voice. They also represent our communication with others via telepathy.
If you are calling someone in a dream, you may be wanting to communicate and understand that particular person. If making a call to an unknown person, it is probably your deeper self you need to establish contact with. These dream calls are important. You can ask any question and it will most likely be answered.
Telephone dreams can also be very frustrating; you can’t remember the number, the phone is out of order, you can’t hear the voice on the other end, etc. All of these struggles are showing the dreamer the amount of anxiety, energy and effort that is going into making these connections.
Pay attention to telephone dreams. Your inner self may have a message for you!
