Cross Keeps Isu Coaches

Idaho State’s new athletic director said he will keep head football coach Brian McNeely and head basketball coach Herb Williams in their posts.

Director Irv Cross is assuming his duties ahead of time.

Cross had intended to start full time in the first week of July, when he was to move to Pocatello. But in the interim, he will do much of his work from his home in Leesburg, Va.

Cross earlier said he anticipated sweeping changes and appointing several new staff members. But he praised McNeely and Williams.

“It makes a lot of sense to me why those people would be there,” he said. “If we were to conduct a national search today for head football coach or head basketball coach, in all likelihood those two people would be selected to come to Idaho State University.”
