New faces:

Computer Business Solutions has hired Charles “Lindy” Linderman as general manager. Linderman is retired from the Air Force and has 15 years of experience in total quality management.

Alan McCurdy, former head of the department of applied microbiology and food science at the University of Saskatchewan, is the new chair of the food science and human nutrition department at Washington State University. McCurdy, who earned a doctorate in food science from WSU, had been on the University of Saskatchewan faculty since 1982.

Wayne Asmussen, joined Hanna & Associates, Inc., as vice president of strategic planning. Asmussen, a Washington State University graduate, previously worked with Nalley’s Fine Foods in Tacoma.

Donn Durgen, was hired as vice president of real estate lending by First Federal Bank of Idaho.

Jennifer West Public Relations hired Marcie Haeg as a junior account executive. Haeg is a Gonzaga University graduate.

Inland Northwest Bank selected Cindy Bleker as branch manager of their new Indian Trail Branch Office, located in the recently remodeled Yoke’s Pac ‘n Save.

Wade Jacklin is a new sales coordinator with Post Falls-Medalist America.

Northern State Bank announced that Gary Karnes joined the bank as vice president and manager of the home loan center.

Paul Henderson joined Camp World of Cars New Chevrolet sales and leasing staff. Henderson is a Central Valley High School graduate.

Mike Wolfe joined the new Chevrolet car and truck sales division at Camp World of Cars.

Moving up:

Rings & Things Wholesale Division announced the following promotions:

Heather Christman from sales associate to graphics and marketing assistant. Christman had been with Rings & Things for two years.

These inventory department employees also were promoted:

Josh Young, to international buyer;

Heidi Newton, to buyer;

Karin Davis, to buyer;

Eric Crow, to receiving.

Johnson Matthey Electronics has reorganized four top management positions as follows:

Benoit Pouliquen was named president of Advance Circuits Inc., and relocated to Minneapolis from Spokane. Pouliquen was previously president of JME’s semiconductor products group and general manager of JME’s Spokane headquarters.

Doug Neugold was appointed vice president of semiconductor packages and also will be located in Minneapolis. Neugold will manage JME’s operations in St. Louis Park, Minn. and a new production facility in Wisconsin. Neugold recently relocated from Singapore, where he was general manager of Asian operations.

Jack Schnitzius will replace Pouliquen as Spokane site director and will be responsible for ensuring consistent implementation of all JME policies and procedures.

Jack Bolick is JME’s new president of the Wafer Fabrication Materials Group, formerly known as the semiconductor products group. Bolick will oversee operations in Taiwan, Korea, Japan and the U.S.

May Ward, who has worked for Dishman Dodge for seven years, was promoted to service manager.

Steve Adams was promoted to sales manager of Furniture 1900 in the Spokane Valley.

Starting Up:

Marilee Shreve-Wagner started CellularTwo, as an authorized dealer for AT&T Wireless Service.

Sandy Emerson, a Coeur d’Alene native, opened Emerson Valuation, a real estate appraisal and counseling service. Emerson is a University of Idaho graduate.

Tim Wilson opened Momentum Architecture in Coeur d’Alene. Wilson has experience in multi-family housing, senior care facilities and custom residential projects..

MASSAGE Magazine relocated its corporate and publishing offices from Davis, Calif., to Spokane. The magazine was founded by Robert Noah Calvert, a Spokane resident, and former owner of Bodyworks School and Clinic of Massage Therapy.

New Identity:

IMR Spokane has been renamed Brown & Associates. Their address, 1028 W. Rosewood Ave., is the same, with a new suite number: 140-B.

Transactions:

Charles Crapo, CPA, has been appointed an AgriPlan/BizPlan Provider in the Otis Orchards area.

Carol and Jim Stephenson of Veradale are the new owners of the Speedy Sign A Rama full-service sign franchise in the Spokane Valley.

Elected:

Holy Family Adult Day Health elected a board of officers, including: Bob Douthitt, Lukins & Annis, chairperson; Tony Kahmann, Medical Service Corp., vice chair; Bill Fisher, Providence Services, secretary/treasurer; and Mary Higgins, former director of the Spokane Mental Health Center, who was appointed to the board.

An additional new board member awaiting approval from the Dominican Network Board of Directors in Dr. Robert Clark, a neurologist on Holy Family Hospital’s active medical staff.

The Inland Northwest Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association elected the following people as officers for the 1996-97 term: Keith Nemitz, Nemitz Sheet Metal, president; Roland Cummings, K C Sheet Metal, Pasco, vice president; Richard Pansie, Spokane Tin & Sheet Iron Works, secretary/treasurer; Don Zoda, Randolph Sheet Metal, Pasco, immediate past president.

The following people were chosen as directors for 1996-97: Harvey Chapman, Morrison Refrigeration, Richland; Jeff Jansen, Northwest Air Systems, Kennewick; Robert Brandt, Krueger Sheet Metal; Roy Fair, Carlson Sheet Metal; Rich Schrader, Pro Heating; and Steve Menard, Metal Benders, Yakima.

The Institute of Real Estate Management Inland Northwest Chapter No. 49 has installed officers for 1996: Thomas Hix, Tomlinson Black Management Inc., president; Rob Gragg, Pentzer Development Corp., vice president; David Wright, Tomlinson Black, secretary-treasurer; and John Sharp, Sharp and Hadley; Kenneth McLeod, Kiemle and Hagood Co.; and Robert McVicars, McVicars and Associates, all members of the executive council.

Appointed:

Pam Praeger, Institute of Extended Learning dean of instruction for Community and Professional/Technical Education, was appointed by Governor Mike Lowry to serve on the Washington State Commission for Asian-Pacific American Affairs. Praeger also recently served on the Walsh commission, which made recommendations regarding how judges should be selected in Washington State.

Jennifer Roseman, district director of Communications and Development at Community Colleges of Spokane, has been selected to serve a three-year term on the Commission on Philanthropy for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). CASE is a 24-member national commission which focuses on professional education, research and development of programs and services as they relate to the discipline of philanthropy.

Kudos:

Bonnie Brodsky, E/M Sales of Spokane, received the Alkota Cleaning Systems Inc., Million Dollar Club Award, for the company’s outstanding service at Alkota’s annual international sales conference.

Denise Fox, associate broker of Coldwell Banker Grand Realty in Spokane, is among Coldwell Banker employees qualifying for The International President’s Elite, which recognizes the top 1 percent of all sales associates.

Certifications:

Cactus Computer Co. of Moscow, Idaho, was honored by I-Way Magazine for its Internet site, www.TurboNet.com. The site was listed among the top 25 Internet sites in the E-zine category. TurboNet is the home of Lou Bignami’s Fine Fishing Internet Magazine.

Scott McGann, a sales executive with Sedgwick James of Washington, was awarded the Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) designation and diploma by the Insurance Institute of America. McGann passed examinations that test for a person’s knowledge of insurance coverages, marketing concepts, selling techniques and agency and sales management.

Barbara and Jerry Williams have been awarded Environmental Assessment Consultant credentials by the National Society of Environmental Consultants. Jerry Williams and Barbara Williams both have more than 20 years of real estate experience, and have established Environmental Consultants in Spokane.

Greg Holder of David Evans and Associates Inc. received his professional engineers license from the state of Washington. Holder has worked at DEA as a project manager since January 1995.

United Coatings received the International Conference of Building Officials (I.C.B.O.) designation for its Uni-Tex Exterior Insulation and Finish System (E.I.F.S.). The Uni-Tex system is an acrylic stucco applied over an insulated foam board used for commercial, residential new and retrofit projects.

Michael Nelson was named a certified internal auditor (CIA) by the Institute of Internal Auditors. The designation is awarded to internal audit professionals who have met the rigorous requirements of the program. Nelson is director of internal audits and public records officer at Eastern Washington University.
