Subpoena Sought Over Gingrich Course

Haley Barbour, chairman of the Republican National Committee, has been subpoenaed as part of a special counsel’s investigation of a college course once taught by House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Although Gingrich contends his course was strictly educational, Democrats have charged in an ethics complaint that the purpose of the course was to recruit GOP supporters and spread the Republican Party’s message.

The subpoena is a request for RNC documents. Barbour has not been asked to testify.
