Plan To Turn Rail Line Into Trail To Be Topic

A proposal to turn an abandoned railroad line from Plummer to Mullan into a recreational trail is the subject of a public meeting June 5.

The abandoned Union Pacific Railroad line runs along the Chain Lakes, past Enaville and through the Silver Valley.

A panel discussion on the proposal is being sponsored by the Coeur d’Alene Basin Restoration Project Citizen’s Advisory Committee. The discussion will be held at 7 p.m., June 5, in the Rose Lake Historical Society building in Rose Lake.

The panel will include representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Union Pacific Railroad.
