Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: My complaint is the decorative band on towels. I don’t understand why the bands can’t be made so they don’t shrink or why the manufacturers don’t just leave the bands off if they can’t be.

It doesn’t matter how expensive they are or what brand they are, almost all of them shrink somewhat and I think it ruins the way nice towels look when you hang them up. I’ve even asked at the store if they shrink and they say that you can return them if they do, but when they’re a gift you don’t really have that option.

Thanks for anything you can do for us consumers in this regard. - Marguerite Dahl, Billings, Mont.
